1988
Founded in the 1980s by Wim Verellen and Hilde Verbergt, Joenit originally started out as a specialist retailer of electronic components. A second division soon followed, specializing in the design and production of industrial solutions for medium-sized to large companies. Big names such as NMBS, Electrabel and Proctor & Gamble became customers.

1991
The love for music brought us to the distribution of high-quality audio products, for which a new company building was designed and built in the heart of the medieval city of Mechelen. With 3 demonstration rooms, an electronic workshop as well as a large showroom, Joenit was exploring new horizons.

1993
The passion for authentic vinyl sound lead us to the British audio manufacturer Rega. Not only did Rega build excellent turntables, they also offered high quality amplifiers and speakers. In this way, the Rega philosophy suited us completely and Joenit became the exclusive importer for the Benelux.

1995
During a visit to CES Las Vegas Wim Verellen discovered for the first time the Canadian loudspeaker manufacturer Totem Acoustic. Completely impressed by the accuracy and warmth of products such as the legendary Model One monitor loudspeaker, it instantly was love by the first note.

2000
Due to a major increase in our Hi-Fi distribution, our company building in the center of Mechelen became too small . The joint interest of Wim and Hilde in architecture and design resulted in a new, unique and innovative office building, located just outside the center of Mechelen. To this day, this is the nerve center of Joenit.

2006
Bram Verellen, son of Wim and Hilde, joined the company. At the time he was primarily responsible for dealer contacts and the organization of shows. In the same year, his younger brother, Sam Verellen, also joined the company, which became a real family business.

2007
In the new millennium, our electronic department began to lose ground as a result of increased CE regulation, miniaturization and huge imports of Chinese computers. With serious regrets, the electronic department had to be shut down.

2008
Wim Verellen had a new mission, to create an unparalleled amplifier, the beChocolate. Not immediately intended for a large market, but primarily for ourselves and our circle of acquaintances. Feel free to call it a statement.

2013
Brothers Bram and Sam Verellen took over the management and became responsible for Joenit. The company's blueprint as well as the general mission remained unchanged. After all, Bram and Sam always experienced the hard and passionate work of their parents up close. Wim and Hilde sought peace and quiet in France and started a new project.

2018
The unique British brand Chord Electronics crossed our path and charmed us with its innovative building technology and impressive sound quality. At the beginning of 2019 we became the exclusive importer for Chord Electronics in Belgium.

Today, Joenit supplies around 120 specialized Hi-Fi shops in Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Great Britain and France. Joenit is synonymous with know-how and excellent after-sales service. That’s our motto, day after day.
